If you wanted a Roxor with a dump bed before, you had to buy a drop-in aftermarket kit. Now, it's available from the factory with the tried-and-true turbodiesel powertrain. I haven’t met anybody yet who hates the Mahindra Roxor . OK, maybe Jeep does , but brands don’t count. It’s a simple, rugged, and dependable rig that gets the job done with a turbodiesel engine and a five-speed manual gearbox. Now, for the 2027 model year, Mahindra has given the Roxor an optional dump bed. What the heck else could you ask for, super trucker?
Yes, I’m talking to you. If you clicked on this story, you must be at least somewhat interested in cosplaying as a professional dump truck driver. I’ve done my share with my 1966 Ford F600 , and I suspect this new Roxor will similarly scratch the itch. Just listen to the specs.
Its 2.7-liter engine makes 55 horsepower and 144 lb-ft of torque, which is the same as before. That said, it’s quite tunable, as the aftermarket company Diesel Freak sells an ECU flash that takes it up to 94 hp and 218 lb-ft of torque. It’s still not a Peterbilt, but that’s plenty of power for most jobs around the house or property.
The newly available cargo bed tilts to 50 degrees and can dump up to 1,400 pounds. Mahindra went with an electric hoist for this job, and if you need to take the bed all the way off to service anything underneath, you simply remove a few pins. Other models, including the base and the unibody cab model, feature beds that are permanently fixed in place.
And because the Roxor runs on diesel, you can fill it with the same fuel as your tractor, your skid steer, or what have you. What’s better still is the 16-gallon fuel capacity, which means you won’t have to refill it at the end of every day. Whether you’re hauling the max of 1,400 pounds in the bed or towing the limit of 3,500 pounds, it’ll likely last you as long as the chore demands.
Other new features for the 2027 Roxor include real glass on the windshield and windows, while the latter are hand-cranked. The seats are better than before, and they’ve been moved 1.5 inches inward to provide room for the full steel doors. Some of the customization possibilities are gone, since the new windshield isn’t compatible with pre-existing wiper kits, but it doesn’t seem to have lost much overall. Roofed models are also two inches shorter than before to fit more easily in garages.
Since the new Roxor was only unveiled recently at Mahindra’s national dealer conference, there aren’t any official press materials to share just yet. Diesel Freak said in a YouTube comment that pricing will be the same as before on base models ($22,550) and those with the cab ($30,902). The dump bed will supposedly cost an additional $1,000.
Realistically, you could option one of these bad boys up near $40,000. It still wouldn’t be the most expensive side-by-side out there, though. Not even close.
