General Motors, which currently sells no hybrids across all of its brands (no, the Corvette E-Ray doesn’t really count, be honest) is investing into its Lansing Delta Township plant for the purpose of hybrid vehicle production. According to a report, the Chevrolet Traverse, Buick Enclave, and GMC Acadia will be the first to get electrified powertrains. This will surely be music to dealers, who have been pleading with the automaker for hybrids “every chance we get,” per one dealer representative. [ Reuters ]
Stellantis shares jumped by more than 6% this morning in Europe, after the company reported adjusted pre-tax earnings of $285 million in the third quarter, which it attributes to its ongoing cost-cutting campaign. That’s almost triple the $100 million in earnings it posted over the same period last year. [ Reuters ]
30,000 Ford F-Series pickups, from the F-150 to the F-450, mostly from model year 2026, have a faulty left-side tailgate cable that could snap if the tailgate is overloaded. Unfortunately, the company is dealing with so many recalls at the moment that it’s unlikely it’ll be able to fix affected vehicles for the next three months, if not longer. [ Autoblog ]
Porsche CFO Jochen Breckner confirmed in an earnings call what many have suspected for some time: That Audi’s new electric sports car will utilize the same platform as its upcoming 718 Boxster and Cayman replacement. Breckner also added that Porsche “will get cash from their side,” and that the “payment is expected to come in 2027.” [ Motor1 ]
Porsche’s Breckner also said during this same call that the Mission S supercar concept “received really overwhelming feedback from all the stakeholders and groups that we were targeting,” but pumped the brakes that we’ll see a production version in the near future, stipulating that “It’s still a vision model and a design model.” [ Motor1 ]
Dodge has announced an $11,000 Mopar package, including functional and aesthetic mods, for two-door 2027 Charger R/T and Scat Pack models. 270 coupes with this equipment will be produced in total. [ Stellantis ]
By 2031, one in four new cars globally will be a hybrid of some type, according to analytics firm Global Data. If that seems low given how popular hybrids are in North America, that’s because EVs are still expected to outsell them everywhere else in the world. [ Automotive News ]
