Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan Meets with US Secretary of State

On October 19, 2026, Turkmenistan’s Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov met with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio in Samarkand.
On October 19, 2026, a meeting was held in Samarkand between Rashid Meredov, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, and Marco Rubio, Secretary of State of the United States of America.
During the meeting, the heads of the two countries’ foreign ministries positively assessed ongoing efforts to expand mutually beneficial cooperation.
In this regard, it was noted that the summit of heads of state held in the C5+1 format in Washington in November 2025 marked an important milestone in bringing joint efforts together.
The sides discussed further ways to develop and strengthen cooperation between Turkmenistan and the United States. They also set dates for important meetings and political consultations aimed at giving new impetus to bilateral relations.
The meeting was also attended by Sergio Gor, the US President’s Special Envoy for South and Central Asia and Ambassador.
