‘Street Fighter’ Soundtrack Takes ‘Guile’s Theme’ From Arcade to Big Screen: See the Full Track List

If you’ve ever played Street Fighter , there’s a good chance you might recognize “Guile’s Theme” before the first few notes even finish. Now, the famous melody has been transformed into a cinematic piece that gives the tune a new, adrenaline-filled life.
Leo Birenberg and Zach Robinson have unveiled their new version of “Guile’s Theme,” the lead single from the upcoming Street Fighter original motion picture soundtrack — and Billboard is exclusively revealing the full track list for the soundtrack below as well. “Guile’s Theme” arrives ahead of the film’s Oct. 16 theatrical release, giving one of the video game franchise’s signature musical pieces a cinematic upgrade. It pairs its familiar melody with orchestral arrangements, electric guitar and an overall heroic sound.
The new recording is more than just a nostalgic nod to the game. For Birenberg and Robinson, “Guile’s Theme” was part of the musical foundation that helped shape them as composers. The duo said the Street Fighter music has been a major influence on their musical identities since they were young, making the opportunity to reinterpret the theme for the new film extremely substantial.
“To describe the music of Street Fighter as an influence would simply be an understatement — it is legitimately one of the core musical works that forged our musical identities,” the pair said in a statement. “As young and budding composers, we listened to Yoko Shimomura’s iconic ‘Guile’s Theme’ probably more than Raiders of the Lost Ark . We hope fans will hear the love and reverence we hold for this music within our version of ‘Guile’s Theme.’ We are beyond grateful to Kitao [Sakurai] and the teams at Legendary and Capcom for the opportunity to contribute music to the Street Fighter universe.”
The soundtrack, also due Oct. 16 via Milan Records, will feature Birenberg and Robinson’s original score for the film, along with two new original songs from industrial metal band HEALTH that were written specifically for the movie.
Directed by Kitao Sakurai, the new Street Fighter brings the Capcom fighting game franchise back to theaters with Andrew Koji as Ryu, Noah Centineo as Ken Masters and Callina Liang as Chun-Li. The story is set in 1993 and follows Ryu and Ken as they reunite after being recruited by Chun-Li for the World Warrior Tournament. The expansive cast also includes Jason Mamoa as Blanka, David Dastmalchian as M. Bison, Cody Rhoes as Guile, Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson as Balrog and Joe “Roman Reigns” Anoa’i as Akuma.
