Uzbekistan has joined the Artemis Accords, which establish principles for international cooperation in the peaceful exploration and use of the Moon, Mars, comets and asteroids. This was announced by Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The document was signed on October 19 following bilateral talks between Uzbekistan’s Foreign Minister Bakhtiyor Saidov and U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio.

Uzbekistan has thus become the 77th country to join the Artemis Accords.

According to Bakhtiyor Saidov, participation in this international initiative opens up new opportunities for Uzbekistan to expand cooperation with the U.S. National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), as well as with the space agencies of other countries participating in the accords.

The agreement will also create opportunities to develop cooperation in training national specialists and transferring space technologies.
