Chief of the Strategic Integration and Management Branch
Kayla Rillo Armstrong serves as the Chief of the Strategic Integration and Management Branch in the Science Mission Directorate (SMD) at NASA. An experienced strategic advisor and relationship builder, her career has been dedicated to successfully integrating across multiple teams with differing goals.
Since March 2025, Kayla has served as a leader in the Strategic Integration and Management Branch. In this capacity, she is responsible for overseeing SMD’s audit and partnership program, as well as tracking executive orders for the directorate. Kayla plays a critical role in ensuring senior leadership is apprised of changes in government policy and expertly manages responses to queries from high-level stakeholders.
Before joining NASA, Kayla worked on Capitol Hill in the House of Representatives as a Senior Legislative Assistant, where she led Appropriations Committee work for several members. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Seton Hall University.
