On November 6, 2026, the opening ceremony of the Turkmen-Chinese Business Forum was held in Shanghai, China. The event was organized as part of Turkmenistan’s delegation participation in the ninth China International Import Expo — “China International Import Expo – 2026.” This was reported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.
The forum, organized by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Turkmenistan in cooperation with “TMT Consulting Group,” is dedicated to the 35th anniversary of the country’s independence and is being held under the motto for 2026: “Independent, Permanently Neutral Turkmenistan — the Homeland of Swift Steeds.” More than 500 representatives of government institutions and business communities from the two countries are taking part in the event.
As part of the forum, participants visited Turkmenistan’s national pavilion at the National Exhibition and Convention Center in Shanghai. There, they had the opportunity to learn about the country’s economic achievements and explore products manufactured by Turkmen companies.
At the plenary session entitled “Developing the Great Silk Road: A New Stage of Strategic Partnership,” Mergen Gurdov, Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Turkmenistan, delivered welcoming remarks.
The forum’s main agenda includes expanding Turkmen-Chinese trade, economic and investment cooperation, developing industrial cooperation, and strengthening direct ties between the business communities of the two countries.
During the meetings, particular attention was paid to opportunities for implementing joint projects in the energy, textile, construction and electrical engineering sectors. The participants also discussed the introduction of modern technologies, diversification of bilateral trade and identification of new areas for cooperation.
Chinese partners were provided with detailed information about Turkmenistan’s investment opportunities, as well as the favourable conditions created in the country for foreign investors.
Following the event, several bilateral cooperation documents are expected to be signed between business entities of the two countries.
The Turkmen-Chinese Business Forum will continue until November 7. It serves as an important platform for developing trade and economic relations between the two countries, expanding investment cooperation and elevating collaboration between their business communities to a new level.
