DJ Khaled, Megan Thee Stallion, Young Guru & NBA star LaMelo Ball previously launched scholarships with the school.
A$AP Rocky never went to college, but he’s giving an aspiring creative a chance to earn a degree tuition-free. Billboard can exclusively reveal on Tuesday (Oct. 6) that the Harlem native has launched a scholarship for an incoming freshman enrolling at LIU Brooklyn’s Roc Nation School of Music, Sports and Entertainment.
Applications for first-time freshmen for the fall 2027 semester are now open through Dec. 15. One student will be awarded a full-tuition four-year scholarship courtesy of Rocky.
“I’m a big believer in creating your own lane and giving people the opportunity to do the same,” said A$AP Rocky in a statement to Billboard . “There are so many talented young people with ideas, ambition and something important to say. This scholarship is about helping one of them turn that vision into something real.”
The Roc Nation School boasts about 300 students on campus in Brooklyn through six different bachelor of arts programs (three from music: applied music, vocal performance and music technology, entrepreneurship and production).
As of 2024, tuition costs $32,000, while 25 percent of incoming freshmen are granted Hope Scholarships. 99 percent of the program’s student body also receives some form of financial aid.
DJ Khaled, Megan Thee Stallion, Gimel “Young Guru” Keaton and NBA star LaMelo Ball have all previously launched celebrity scholarships at the Roc Nation School. Jay-Z’s longtime engineer, Guru, came on board as the school’s Director of the Music Technology, Entrepreneurship & Production program in 2022.
On the music front, A$AP Rocky delivered his long-awaited Don’t Be Dumb album in January, which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200.
