Representatives of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan Participate in International Parliamentary Forums

Delegations of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan took part in the OSCE PA Autumn Session in Andorra and the 153rd Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union in Tanzania.
Delegations of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan participated in the Autumn Session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE PA) and the 153rd Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), where important issues of international parliamentary cooperation were discussed.
The Autumn Session of the OSCE PA was held in Andorra la Vella, the capital of Andorra. The forum focused on finding joint responses to new challenges and threats of the modern era, as well as strengthening trust and security among states.
During the forum, representatives of the Parliament of Turkmenistan, together with legislators from the countries of the OSCE region, exchanged views on such areas as energy security, the development of multifaceted cooperation and strengthening international trust. Discussions were also held on protecting human rights in the digital era, preventing cyber threats and ethical principles for the use of artificial intelligence technologies.
During the same period, representatives of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan took part in the 153rd Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, held in Arusha, Tanzania. One of the main issues of the international forum was improving legislative measures to protect the rights of persons with disabilities and expand their opportunities to participate in public life.
Within the framework of the Assembly, issues related to the development of international parliamentary cooperation, ensuring socially inclusive development, strengthening peace, as well as determining the work programme of the Inter-Parliamentary Union for the next three years were discussed.
The delegation of Turkmenistan also participated in the elections of the governing bodies of the Inter-Parliamentary Union. This demonstrated the continuation of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan’s efforts aimed at developing cooperation with international parliamentary organizations.
Participation in international parliamentary forums not only enables Turkmenistan to present its national legislative experience to the international community, but also creates new opportunities for developing international cooperation on important issues of the modern era.
The issues raised during the meetings held in Andorra and Tanzania demonstrated that Turkmenistan’s international initiatives aimed at supporting peace, security, the protection of human rights and socially equitable development are also being continued at the level of parliamentary cooperation.
