Sony Releases Android 17 for Two Xperia Phones at Once, but Some Features Are Missing
Amul Info ·
The Xperia 10 VII and Xperia 10 VIII get a refreshed interface, expanded settings and better screen recording, but not every feature.
Sony has started rolling out Android 17 to the Xperia 10 VII and Xperia 10 VIII. The flagship Xperia 1 VIII and Xperia 1 VII received the update earlier. The company has not yet said in which regions the new firmware is available, but users in the UK and other European countries are known to be first in line.
After installing Android 17, owners of both models get an updated “Wallpaper & style” feature with new options for wallpapers, clocks and app icons. The quick settings panel has also been reworked: users can resize tiles, arrange them as they like and show short descriptions on enlarged tiles.
Screen recording has improved too. It is now possible to capture the whole display or a single app while recording system sound and microphone audio at the same time.
However, the update is incomplete. The Xperia 10 VII and Xperia 10 VIII did not get AirDrop support through Quick Share, the Desktop Mode, or the improved AI camera assistant for photography.
