On 11 October 2026, the official opening ceremony of the new academic year at the Lu Ban Workshop in Turkmenistan was held at the Yagshygeldi Kakaev International University of Oil and Gas. The event was dedicated to developing cooperation between Turkmenistan and the People’s Republic of China in education and science, as well as improving the professional training of young people.
The opening ceremony was organised as part of the international exhibition and scientific conference entitled “Healthcare, Education and Sports in the Era of the Revival of the New Epoch of the Powerful State”, held from 10 to 12 October.
During the event, attention was focused on expanding academic and scientific ties between the Yagshygeldi Kakaev International University of Oil and Gas and its partner universities in China, training young specialists and strengthening friendly relations between the peoples of the two countries.
Speakers highlighted the importance of the opportunities being created for Turkmen youth to receive modern education, develop professional skills and exchange experience with their peers from different countries around the world. The opening of the new academic year at the Lu Ban Workshop, established through mutually beneficial cooperation between Turkmenistan and China in education, was then officially announced.
The ceremony featured a congratulatory address by Bayrammyrat Yaylymovich Atamanov, Rector of the Yagshygeldi Kakaev International University of Oil and Gas, Doctor of Technical Sciences and Professor.
Congratulatory messages were also delivered online by Wang Jingfu, Rector of Xi’an Petroleum University of the People’s Republic of China, and Yu Liguo, Rector of Hebei Petroleum Vocational and Technical University. Yan Peng, Director of the Higher Education Division of the Shaanxi Provincial Department of Education, also delivered a congratulatory address.
The speakers emphasised the importance of cooperation between higher education institutions in improving educational programmes, exchanging experience and preparing young people for modern professions.
During the ceremony, university rector Bayrammyrat Atamanov presented diplomas to first-year students beginning their studies at the Lu Ban Workshop in the fields of “Geology and Exploration of Mineral Resources” and “Information Systems and Technologies”.
At the conclusion of the event, the participants and distinguished guests were thanked, and they were wished success in their work.
Following the opening ceremony, the Chinese guests were introduced to the Lu Ban Workshop’s geology laboratories and information technology classrooms, including their equipment, digital resources and the organisation of the learning process.
The Lu Ban Workshop in Turkmenistan plays an important role in developing young people’s technical knowledge and practical skills, introducing international experience into education and strengthening cooperation between higher education institutions in Turkmenistan and China.
