Deputy minister of culture of the Russian Federation Andrey Malyshev delivered a report at a meeting of the Council for cultural cooperation of the CIS member-states in Ashgabat. In his speech, he praised the level of hospitality of the Turkmen side and emphasised the importance of joint initiatives to strengthen good-neighbourly ties.

«I would like to express my sincere gratitude for the warm welcome. As always, it is no longer surprising that when you come to friendly and brotherly Turkmenistan, you always feel a very warm, friendly welcome», – shared honoured guest of the country.

A. Malyshev noted that cinematography will be a key area of cooperation in the year of the 35 th anniversary of CIS. Ministry of Culture of RF, together with the CIS Executive committee and the State central cinema museum in Moscow, has launched a special exhibition project dedicated to the history and development of national cinema in the Commonwealth countries over the years of independence.

Speaking about the near future, the speaker presented a number of promising areas of cultural cooperation between Russia and Turkmenistan.

These include the development of joint Russian-Turkmen initiatives and the integration of professional groups, as well as the training of Turkmen students at the Moscow state institute of culture, whose successful joint performance in music and theatre took place as part of the Ashgabat events.

At the same time, the creation of common cultural platforms was identified as urgent, the agenda of which will be enhanced by joint events similar to the success of the Days of culture of Turkmenistan in Moscow and the International conference on the development of creative industries in St. Petersburg.

«The Days of culture of Turkmenistan in Moscow became a shining example of how folk crafts, music, young performers, and professional meetings can organically combine into one vibrant project. Another good example of our joint work was the International conference on strengthening cultural ties and developing creative industries, held on the 18 th of June, 2026, in St. Petersburg. This forum brought together official delegations from Russia, the Republic of Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, and Turkmenistan», – the speaker reminded.

Placing particular emphasis on the motto of 2026 in Turkmenistan «Independent, neutral Turkmenistan – the homeland of purposeful, winged horses» – the deputy head of the Ministry of Culture of RF emphasised that contemporary art should strive forward while maintaining a connection with national roots.

«In culture, the result rarely belongs to one organiser. It is born when people of art work together. And if over 35 years we have learned to quickly find each other, then this system really works. Let the word friendship always be the most important for us», – concluded A. Malyshev.
