As part of ongoing efforts to develop Turkmenistan’s transport infrastructure, plans are underway to design, construct and modernize the Ashgabat–Dashoguz highway. President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov has signed the relevant Resolution for the implementation of the project.

Under the project, reconstruction and construction works are planned along this strategically important highway, which has a total length of 546 kilometres. In this connection, the Ministry of Automobile Transport of Turkmenistan has been authorized to conclude contracts for the implementation of the relevant construction and engineering works.

One of the main components of the project will be the construction of a modern 812-metre-long road bridge. In addition, major repairs and modernization of bridges and other engineering structures located along the highway are planned.

This large-scale project will be implemented within the framework of Turkmenistan’s Socio-Economic Development Programme for 2022–2028. The road’s modernization is aimed at improving transport connectivity between the country’s central and northern regions, making road travel more convenient and expanding opportunities for transit transportation.

The modernization of the Ashgabat–Dashoguz highway will contribute to improving the efficiency of freight and passenger transportation between regions and further developing the country’s transport and logistics infrastructure.
