A delegation of specialists from ADL and Nippon Koei, Japanese companies specializing in waste management and recycling, has arrived in Ashgabat. The Embassy of Japan in Turkmenistan announced the visit on its official social media pages.

As part of the visit, the Japanese experts and embassy representatives toured Ashgabat’s waste disposal site. They learned about the current state of waste management in the capital, including how municipal waste is collected and disposed of.

The main objective of the visit is to support the introduction of waste separation, separate collection, and recycling systems in Turkmenistan by drawing on Japan’s experience in this field.

In Japan, particular emphasis is placed on separating and sorting waste by type. This approach makes it possible to reuse a substantial proportion of discarded materials, reduce the volume of waste sent to landfills, and improve efforts to protect the environment.

The visit is intended to promote the exchange of expertise in waste management and explore opportunities to introduce environmentally sustainable solutions in Ashgabat.
