Anne Hathaway Says Rihanna Inspired Her to Shake Up Her Maternity Style: ‘She Changed the Game’

Anne Hathaway is shining bright like a diamond in her maternity looks, and she credits Rihanna as her inspiration.
While visiting CBS Mornings on Friday (Oct. 1), the actress opened up about her glamorous outfits on red carpets as of late as she promotes new psychological thriller Verity , in which she plays the titular role. When host Gayle King praised her for being so adventurous with her wardrobe while proudly showing off her baby bump, Hathaway — who’s expecting her third child with husband Adam Shulman — said, “I think we have Rihanna to thank.”
“She changed the game,” the Devil Wears Prada star continued of the Fenty mogul. “When I saw what she was doing with her maternity style, I just realized that I just needed to use my imagination and go out there and have more fun.”
Indeed, Ri has earned acclaim for how she approached maternity fashion during her pregnancies with sons RZA and Riot Rose and daughter Rocki, whom she shares with A$AP Rocky. Rather than always keeping her baby bumps concealed or camouflaged, the hitmaker embraced bold colors and cutouts that made her belly a focal point.
“I’m enjoying not having to worry about covering up my tummy,” Rihanna told People in 2022. “If I feel a little chubby, it’s like, whatever! It’s a baby!”
As for Hathaway, she told King that — in addition to fun pregnancy fashion — she’s enjoying family time with her two sons, who are 10 and 6. “We’re thrilled, we’re overjoyed,” the Oscar winner shared. “But what we’re really focused on right now is actually just taking in still being a family of four, because everything’s going to change for us, but it’s really going to change for our kids.”
