Ravshanbek Alimov, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Uzbekistan to Turkmenistan, visited the State Library of the State Cultural Centre of Turkmenistan, where he learned about the library’s activities and its collections.
During the visit, the ambassador viewed an exhibition of works by Hero-Arkadag and Arkadagly Hero Serdar translated into Uzbek. He also explored translated publications in the Foreign-Language Literature Department, as well as ancient books and early printed editions preserved in the Rare Publications Department.
During a meeting with the head of the State Library, the sides discussed establishing a reciprocal book-exchange programme with a library scheduled to open in 2027 in a new city being built in Uzbekistan. Particular attention was given to the exchange of books in the Uzbek language.
During the conversation, Ravshanbek Alimov announced that a presentation of Hero-Arkadag’s book “Hakyda göwheri” in Uzbek had recently been held in Uzbekistan. He also said that he planned to donate a copy of the book to the State Library of Turkmenistan in the coming days.
As part of the visit, Uzbekistan’s ambassador presented the State Library of the State Cultural Centre of Turkmenistan with an Uzbek-language edition of the epic poem “Görogly”.
The gift is significant for strengthening cultural and literary ties between the two countries and for introducing the literary heritage of both peoples to a wider readership.
