Healthcare and Medical Industry Workers’ Day in Turkmenistan was widely celebrated throughout the country, including in the Balkan velayat. To mark the professional holiday of medical workers, the Maternal and Child Health Center was officially opened in Balkanabat, the administrative center of the Balkan velayat. The event became one of the most memorable occasions for residents of the region.

Speakers at the ceremony warmly congratulated those gathered on Healthcare and Medical Industry Workers’ Day and on the opening of new specialized facilities across the country. The modern buildings, whose architectural design harmoniously combines the principles of national architecture with advanced urban planning trends, have become a wonderful gift not only for healthcare professionals but also for residents of the country’s western region, who are contributing to the achievements of the year proclaimed “Independent Neutral Turkmenistan — the Homeland of Purposeful Winged Horses” through their professional accomplishments.

The opening ceremony of the Maternal and Child Health Center of the Balkan velayat took place in an atmosphere of great spiritual enthusiasm, in keeping with the era of the Revival of the New Epoch of the Powerful State. The surrounding grounds had been landscaped and festively decorated.

The event was attended by the heads of the hyakimliks of the Balkan velayat and the city of Balkanabat, representatives of regional enterprises and organizations, members of the Halk Maslahaty, deputies of the Mejlis, representatives of the older generation and public organizations, healthcare workers, students, artists, and numerous city residents.

During the celebration, it was emphasized that inspiring achievements were being made under the wise leadership of the President of Turkmenistan, who is continuing the large-scale transformations initiated by the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Hero-Arkadag, as part of the Saglyk State Program. As noted, efforts are underway to further develop this vital sector, including protecting maternal and child health based on advanced international experience, introducing innovative technologies, preventing diseases, increasing life expectancy, improving the sanatorium and health resort infrastructure, promoting healthy lifestyles, and strengthening the material and technical resources of the healthcare system.

Evidence of the state’s comprehensive care for its people can be seen In the modern multidisciplinary hospitals, diagnostic centers, health houses, and sanatoriums equipped with advanced medical equipment from leading international manufacturers, which have been built throughout the country, including in the Balkan velayat. As is well known, the country’s noble initiatives aimed at safeguarding public health and ensuring a happy life for its citizens are comprehensive in nature.

The official opening of the Maternal and Child Health Center of the Balkan velayat is a vivid confirmation of this commitment. The center comprises four- and five-story buildings and provides 305 inpatient beds for mothers and children. Of these, 50 beds are allocated to the maternity and postpartum department, another 50 to the gynecology department, 80 to the newborn care department, and 10 to the neonatal anesthesiology and intensive care department.

The center includes admissions and consultation departments, radiology and diagnostic imaging departments, anesthesiology and intensive care departments, as well as a centralized laboratory. The operating rooms are equipped with advanced medical equipment. The center also has a computed tomography scanner, a magnetic resonance imaging scanner, a fluorography unit, a mammography machine, and a modern X-ray system, all meeting international quality standards.

The opening of the Balkan velayat’s first specialized neonatal anesthesiology and intensive care department, with 10 beds, is further evidence that maternal and child healthcare in the country is being developed systematically. The center is equipped with modern Babylife BLF-2001 equipment manufactured by Hungary’s Medicor company and designed to care for premature infants. This reliable technology helps create comfortable conditions for newborns. It enables the regulation of oxygen supply, humidity, and temperature according to each infant’s weight and body temperature.

The German-made Proview-12 monitor can measure infants’ respiratory rates and body temperature, monitor blood pressure invasively and non-invasively, assess the oxygenation of central venous blood, and perform electrocardiographic monitoring. This equipment plays an important role in ensuring healthy infant development and raising a strong generation. This objective is among the key priorities of the 2026–2030 National Program Healthy Mother – Healthy Child – Healthy Future, approved by the President of the country. The conditions created to ensure the coordinated operation of the healthcare system were met with deep appreciation by those attending the celebration.

During the event, valuable gifts were presented on behalf of the President of Turkmenistan to the construction workers who had distinguished themselves in building the facility.

Specialized vehicles donated to the center on behalf of Arkadagly Hero Serdar were received with profound gratitude, in accordance with national traditions.

It should be noted that construction of the center was carried out by employees of the «Şadyýan gurluşyk» Economic Society, a member of the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan, under a contract commissioned by the Capital Construction Department of the Hyakimlik of the Balkan velayat.

The ceremony was enhanced by literary and musical performances presented by creative groups from the Balkan Velayat Department of Culture, the specialized school of arts, and performers from the Great Saparmurat Turkmenbashi State Drama Theater. Their performances celebrated the Motherland’s significant achievements, the new historical era, peace, and friendship. Tributes were dedicated to the year “Independent Neutral Turkmenistan — the Homeland of Purposeful Winged Horses,” Hero-Arkadag, and Arkadagly Hero Serdar. Performances of the ancient kushdepdi dance and traditional gazals also inspired those attending the celebration.

The symbolic ribbon was cut with the blessing of respected elders. The participants then toured the departments of the modernized center and familiarized themselves with the facilities and conditions provided there.

All departments of the center are equipped with advanced medical equipment and innovative technologies supplied by leading companies from countries including Japan, Italy, Germany, Spain, the United States of America, Korea, France, and the People’s Republic of China. Specialists explained the operation and capabilities of the advanced medical equipment to the guests. The guests expressed their gratitude to the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Hero-Arkadag, and the President of Turkmenistan for creating conditions at the center that enable mothers and children to receive high-quality medical care and allow medical personnel to work effectively.
