Effort to recall embattled Lawrence mayor underway

Organizers in Lawrence will start collecting more than 7,000 signatures as soon as this week in an effort to remove Mayor Brian DePeña from office. It comes as Mayor DePeña faces state and federal charges over alleged wiretapping and money laundering.
