NASA’s Science Mission Directorate (SMD) traditionally releases Research Opportunities in Space and Earth Sciences (ROSES), its umbrella Notice of Funding Opportunity for research grants, on an annual basis. The current edition was released in July 2025. NASA plans to release ROSES-27 no later than January 2027 . To receive an email when it is released, sign up for the SMD General Subscription List through NSPIRES.

ROSES-27 will support research addressing fundamental questions about our planet and the universe and connecting scientific discovery with exploration. It advances the President’s National Space Policy and the goals outlined through NASA’s Ignition, Faster to Science, and Golden Age of Science initiatives: accelerating discovery, enabling bold research, and investing in the next generation of scientists.

We continue to add new opportunities to ROSES-25, such as those listed below, and we anticipate several more opportunities still to come in ROSES-25.

ROSES-27 will engage the research community in advancing the President’s National Space Policy and NASA’s Ignition initiatives by accelerating discovery and connecting science with exploration. Consistent with Faster to Science and the Golden Age of Science initiatives announced October 8 , SMD is creating opportunities to pursue bold ideas, answer fundamental questions about our planet and the universe, and prepare the next generation of scientists to carry that work forward.

Questions regarding those individual ROSES-25 program elements listed above should be directed to the points of contact for those programs (given in the summary table of key information at the end of the PDF file). Questions regarding ROSES generally may be directed to SARA@NASA.govgov
