Have you ever been faced with a situation where a simple $2.00 part could have saved you from an expensive headache? If you own a recent Ford Super Duty that you park outside, you may be two steps ahead of me here. For those not familiar, the hood cowling design on recent Super Duties channels water to a hole directly over the truck’s fuse box. If the lid on that fuse box doesn’t seal properly (a common occurrence, from some internet sleuthing), that water will make its way inside.
Anybody who took middle school science is probably aware that mixing water and electricity in this manner often leads to a deficit in your bank account—a big one, in fact. Just replacing the box with an updated design that shouldn’t fail to close can be a $700 proposition .
But the most frustrating part for owners is that Ford could have prevented this by including a simple diverter to channel water away from the fuse box, which is precisely what it did for 2027, and yes, this fix will work on previous model years. Here’s a nice breakdown via whitefaceford on Instagram :

The best part? This fix doesn’t just help 2027 Super Duty buyers; according to the video, it’s a drop-in fit for any current-generation Super Duty (2023-2026) and will also work on 2020-2022 models, though it’s not clear from the video whether it’s still a direct fit; some modification may be necessary. From what we can see, it’s a tool-free installation job in the current truck; YMMV with older models.
It doesn’t appear that the new diverter is in stock anywhere online just yet (part number PL3B-C022B22-DA), but it should be available at your local parts counter soon enough.
