A festive concert entitled “The Road of Friendship,” featuring distinguished artists from the Republic of Kazakhstan, was held at the Magtymguly National Music and Drama Theatre. The event served as a vivid testament to the strengthening of fraternal ties, good-neighbourly relations, and fruitful cultural and humanitarian dialogue between the two countries.
The event brought together numerous admirers of musical art, members of the diplomatic corps, representatives of the creative intelligentsia, and young people from the capital. The festive programme was opened by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Kazakhstan to Turkmenistan, Nurlan Nogayev, who highlighted the steady development of Turkmen-Kazakh relations, rooted in longstanding traditions of friendship and mutual respect.
Artists from the Gaziza Zhubanova Aktobe Regional Philharmonic demonstrated outstanding performing skills to the Ashgabat audience. The vocal ensemble “Dauys” captivated spectators with its virtuoso polyphonic performances of folk compositions in modern arrangements, while the renowned “Akku” ensemble presented vibrant choreographic performances reflecting the richness and distinctive character of national culture.
One of the evening’s most moving moments was the performance by the Kazakh Folk Instruments Orchestra. Soloist Oral-Kosai Baisengir performed the traditional terme singing style, setting to music the timeless verses of Magtymguly Fragi, the great poet and thinker of the East. This performance served as a vivid embodiment of the spiritual affinity shared by the two brotherly peoples.
The concert programme also featured heartfelt musical tributes to Turkmen art. Nurken Ashirov, an Honoured Cultural Figure of Kazakhstan and artistic director of the Akhmet Zhubanov Orchestra, presented the discerning audience with an original fantasy variation on the theme of “Bibijan,” a popular Turkmen folk song. He also delivered an inspired performance of the overture to “Leyli and Majnun,” a classical opera by Danatar Ovezov.
Held in a warm and friendly atmosphere, the concert concluded with enthusiastic applause from the audience, once again reaffirming the considerable potential of cultural partnership between Turkmenistan and the Republic of Kazakhstan.
