Selena Gomez Celebrates ‘Ups & Downs’ With Demi Lovato: ‘I’m Proud of What We’ve Been Through’

The duo also added to their iconic vlog series after 18 years and looked back on throwback photos.

Fans have been loving the reunion between Selena Gomez and Demi Lovato , but no one understands how meaningful it is more than the two friends.

In a Thursday (Oct. 29) post on Instagram , Gomez shared photos from her new Rare Beauty blush collaboration with the Camp Rock alum as well as a few throwbacks, writing, “over 25 years of ups and downs in life and friendship and growth, there has always been a constant that has brought me back to you, @ddlovato.”

“You were the person who knew the seven-year-old me who just had a dream, and I knew that you had a very big dream, too,” the beauty mogul continued, alluding to the pair’s first meeting on Barney & Friends back in the early 2000s. “I love what we’ve been through. I’m proud of what we’ve been through. Thank you for still being one of the most unbelievably real honest human beings in my life.”

Gomez added, “I love you with all my heart.”

The duo has certainly been through a lot over the past quarter-decade. They both broke out as superstars on Disney Channel, at one point uniting in 2009 original movie Princess Protection Program — which provided the inspiration for the aesthetic of the Rare collab — but Gomez and Lovato’s friendship experienced turbulence in the 2010s. After multiple instances of growing apart and reconciling, the performers are now firmly in each other’s corners, with Gomez coming to one of Lovato’s It’s Not That Deep Tour shows earlier this year.

Also for the Rare campaign, Lovato and Gomez sat back down to film one of the BFF vlogs they used to post on the regular two decades ago, marking their first time doing so in about 18 years. The pair recreated their famous “Yo, yo!” opening at the beginning and answered fan submitted questions.

Additionally, Gomez and Lovato donned tiaras and looked back on some of the most iconic photos of them together through the years, adorably laughing about moments from their past that now make them cringe.

Both stars last dropped albums in 2025, with Gomez and now-husband Benny Blanco reaching No. 2 on the Billboard 200 with I Said I Love You First . Lovato unleashed It’s Not That Deep that same year, debuting at No. 9 on the U.S. albums chart.

Gomez and Lovato have also charted on the Billboard Hot 100 numerous times over the years, including with their 2009 collaboration, “One and The Same,” which peaked at No. 82.
