A team of Turkmen schoolchildren will participate in the "FIRST Global Challenge 2026" international robotics competition, which will be held in Incheon, Republic of Korea. This major contest, also known as the "Robotics Olympics," will take place from October 7 to 10, bringing together youth from over 190 countries.
The "OguzRobot" team representing Turkmenistan includes students from Specialized Secondary School No. 97 with Advanced Study of Foreign Languages in Ashgabat: Sukhan Novbatov, Orazniyaz Rejepov, Aznavur Cholukov, Arslan Babajiyev, and Dayhan Gurbanov. The team was selected from the winners of the "Young Engineer 2026" competition and has been undergoing specialized training since April at the "Erjeller" computer department of the "Kämil bilim" Education Center. The mentors guiding the team are Murat Sahetgulyyev, a computer science teacher at Specialized Educational Complex No. 1 in Arkadag, and Davut Gurbanov, a student at Oguz Han Engineering and Technology University of Turkmenistan.
The "FIRST Global Challenge" is an Olympic-style international robotics competition. This year’s theme, "Igniting Innovation," focuses on innovative solutions for wildfire prevention, mitigation of their impact, and environmental sustainability.
Last year, Turkmen schoolchildren delivered an outstanding performance at the prestigious tournament in Panama, winning first place in the "Skill Challenge" category.
