Turkmen Youth Win 1,040 Medals at International Academic Competitions

Schoolchildren and university students from Turkmenistan successfully competed in international academic competitions during the first nine months of 2026, winning a total of 1,040 medals.

This was noted in a report by Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers B. Mammedov at a Cabinet meeting held digitally. According to the Watan news programme, since the beginning of the year, work has continued in the country to provide the younger generation with modern education and to nurture a well-educated and knowledgeable generation.

Advanced teaching methods have been widely introduced in the education system, while opportunities for schoolchildren and students to participate in international competitions have been expanded. As a result, Turkmen youth won a total of 1,040 medals at international academic competitions in various subjects.

On the occasion of Knowledge Day and Student Youth Day, ceremonial assemblies and first lessons were held at educational institutions across the country under the motto “Garaşsyz, baky Bitarap Türkmenistan — bedew batly at-myradyň mekany”.

To mark the beginning of the new academic year, students entering the first grade were presented with laptop computers on behalf of the Hero-Arkadag and the President of Turkmenistan.

In addition, in the presence of the President of Turkmenistan, new building complexes of the Turkmen State Institute of Architecture and Civil Engineering and the Seyitnazar Seydi Turkmen State Pedagogical Institute were officially opened and commissioned. The opening of new educational institutions in Ahal and Lebap regions also increased the significance of the celebrations marking the beginning of the new academic year.

In connection with the 35th anniversary of the sacred Independence of Turkmenistan, scholars of the country were awarded the academic titles of professor, associate professor and senior research fellow.

At the Cabinet meeting, after hearing the report, the President of Turkmenistan emphasized the importance of consistently improving work in the fields of science, education, healthcare and sports.

The Head of State stressed the need to pay particular attention to creating the necessary conditions in educational institutions for providing young people with modern education, developing their scientific and creative potential, and enabling them to perform successfully in international competitions.
