Turkmenistan citizens holding legal residence permits in Türkiye make up the country’s largest foreign community. This was announced by Şener Cebeci, Ambassador of the Republic of Türkiye to Turkmenistan, during a reception held in Ashgabat on October 29 to mark the 103rd anniversary of the proclamation of the Republic of Türkiye.
According to the ambassador, more than 215,000 Turkmenistan citizens currently live in Türkiye. He described this community as one of the valuable assets of relations between the two countries. Şener Cebeci emphasized that humanitarian ties between the two peoples form the foundation of Turkish-Turkmen friendship and solidarity. He noted that Turkmenistan citizens living in Türkiye serve as a strong bridge contributing to the further development of cooperation between the two countries.
The ambassador also stated that more than 60,000 students from Turkmenistan are currently studying at higher education institutions in Türkiye. The Turkish-Turkmen School in Ashgabat also continues to contribute to educating future generations in the spirit of cooperation between the two countries.
The diplomat’s speech focused on bilateral relations between Türkiye and Turkmenistan. He also addressed issues related to trade and economic cooperation, as well as collaboration in the energy sector.
