From October 20 to 23, a delegation from the Myrat Garryyev State Medical University of Turkmenistan visited Samarkand, Republic of Uzbekistan, on a working trip. Turkmen specialists took part in the World Summit entitled “Investing in Children’s Well-being: A Path Towards Sustainable and Equitable Development for Future Generations” and the 2nd International Congress on Pediatric Oncology and Hematology. Both events were held at the Silk Road Samarkand Congress Center.
During the international events, participants heard presentations by experts from the World Health Organization and leading scientific centers around the world. Discussions focused on modern approaches to treating childhood cancers and the potential for introducing precision oncology, gene therapy, and cell transplantation into medical practice.
As part of the visit, the delegation from the Myrat Garryyev State Medical University of Turkmenistan also visited Samarkand State Medical University. A meeting with the university’s leadership addressed opportunities to strengthen cooperation in medical education and scientific research.
The two sides reached agreements on establishing academic exchanges for faculty members and students, sharing professional expertise, and conducting joint research projects. Members of the Turkmen delegation also learned about the work of the university’s departments, its modern laboratories, and its historical museum.
