Some have come out of nowhere, others have taken months to catch on, and all of them could become ubiquitous in the blink of a TikTok clip.
This week: A big fashion moment helps make a pop fan favorite a viral hit, a Harry Styles deep cut becomes a slow-growing breakout and a Moroccan-Canadian singer-songwriter makes her presence felt globally.
Tate McRae dominated this year’s Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show runway with bold old and new songs. The Grammy-nominated pop princess played 2025’s “Sports Car” and her brand new single “Housewife” on the telecast, immediately dominating social media with viral clips of her choreography and catwalk . The day of the show (Oct. 18), “Sports Cart” collected 446,000 official on-demand U.S. streams, according to Luminate, with that figure jumping 36% to 607,000 streams earned the day after the broadcast (Oct. 19).
“Housewife” posted similar gains in the same timeframe, jumping 43% to over 3.26 million daily streams after the fashion show verses 2.27 million streams earned on Oct. 18.
Brit Award-winning pop sensation JADE did not take the stage, but her beloved debut solo single, “Angel of My Dreams” soundtracked Kylie Jenner’s sultry, $50 million Fantasy Bra-sporting catwalk. On the day of the show, “Angel” scored just 18,000 official streams. After Kylie hit the runway (Oct. 18), “Angel” ballooned by a jaw-dropping 1,434% to over 284,000 official streams. On Wednesday (Oct. 21), “Angel” debuted on the Spotify US Daily Top Songs USA chart at No. 197, two and a half years post-release.
With Tate joining a performance lineup that included Megan Thee Stallion, KATSEYE and Megan Moroney, and JADE scoring key syncs alongside fellow rising pop divas Slayyyter and ADÉLA, this year’s Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show minted a new class of high-wattage pop stars. — KYLE DENIS
The NBA season tipped off last night, with the New York Knicks making their post-championship Madison Square Garden debut (in a loss to the Philadelphia 76ers) — which means that Harry Styles’ own MSG run is coming to an end. Not quite yet, of course — gotta get through Harryween first — but after 25 dates at the World’s Most Famous Arena, only five remain for Styles in the Big Apple before he takes his Together, Together tour Down Under for six combined Melbourne and Sydney dates, his final planned live engagements of 2026.
And if the recent streaming returns for his “Coming Up Roses” are any indication, Stateside fans might not be ready to see Styles go. The deep cut, a quick fan favorite off his Kiss All the Time. Disco, Occasionally. album, has been spreading steadily on TikTok for months now, as fans use the string-soaked ballad to soundtrack sentimental TV and movie edits, as well as clips of their own weddings, engagements or other sweet romantic moments. (“Roses” has also become a much-anticipated highlight of Styles’ live set, as the climactic pre-encore closer during his MSG residency.)
Consequently, the song’s numbers have been ticking up since early August, when it was averaging just over a million official on-demand U.S. streams a week, according to Luminate. In the most recent full tracking week (ending Oct. 15), “Roses” had risen to nearly 2.8 million streams, a 170% gain from two months earlier. The song has also subsequently re-entered the Spotify Daily Top Songs USA chart, climbing back up to No. 126 as of this Tuesday (Oct. 20).
“Roses” has been off the Hot 100 since spending four weeks there this April — and Styles hasn’t appeared on the chart with any song since “American Girls” went recurrent in August. But if “Roses” manages to keep on “Coming Up,” it just might bring him back in time to help soften the blow of his stateside exit. — ANDREW UNTERBERGER
Moroccan-Canadian singer Faouzia released “Unethical” over a year ago as a pre-release single from her 2025 debut album, Film Noir . Now, thanks to steady promotion, emotionally resonant songwriting and a 2026 headlining tour, “Unethical” has grown into a buzzy streaming hit.
Faouzia independently released Film Noir on Nov. 7, 2025, with its deluxe edition landing the following summer on June 12. She kicked off the European leg of her Film Noir tour five days later on June 17, with the trek hitting seven stops before concluding on July 12. According to Luminate, during the week of June 19-25, “Unethical” collected 737,000 official on-demand U.S. streams, with that figure leaping 52% to over 1.12 million official streams a month later (July 17-23).
The John Legend-approved artist then launched her tour’s U.S. leg on July 28, stopping in several major cities before wrapping on Aug. 21. That tour spawned several viral clips of Faouzia nailing the song’s soaring second chorus and bridge, including these two mid-August posts from her official TikTok account, both of which have collected over 20 million views. During the week of Aug. 14-20, “Unethical” earned 1.86 million official streams, marking a 65% jump from the numbers it pulled the month prior.
In the weeks since Faouzia wrapped her tour, “Unethical” live performance clips have continued to go viral across social media, with users either trying their hand at her impressive vocals or sharing their own narratives of turning away from a love that never allowed you to put yourself or your dreams first. It’s also a popular sound in the edit community . On Sept. 9, Faouzia even shared a TikTok clip showcasing an early demo version of the song, which accompanied her normal flurry of posts tracking the song’s slow ascent on streaming. The official “Unethical” sound plays in over 44,000 Instagram Reels and over 533,000 TikTok posts .
During the week of Oct. 9-15, “Unethical” garnered over 3.14 million official streams, good enough for a whopping 327% increase in streaming activity over the past 16 weeks. With “Unethical” already earning Faouzia her first Billboard Canadian Hot 100 entry (No. 79), the American version of the chart just might be her next stop. — KD
