Hungary and the United States have signed a memorandum of understanding on supplying American liquefied natural gas (LNG) to Europe.
Hungarian Foreign Minister Anita Orban announced this on her social media page following a meeting with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio in Washington.
According to the minister, the two sides reached agreements on two key areas of cooperation. The first involves strengthening collaboration on the development of regional energy infrastructure for transporting natural gas and crude oil under the “Trump Peace Pipelines Framework” programme. The second agreement is aimed at expanding information exchange between law enforcement agencies.
The “Trump Peace Pipelines Framework” programme aims to develop energy infrastructure in Central and Eastern Europe, including expanding the gas pipeline network and creating the capacity needed to receive American liquefied natural gas.
The agreements reached by the two sides are intended to promote cooperation on Europe's energy supply and expand infrastructure capabilities for transporting energy resources across the region.
