Turkmenistan’s Delegation Participated in the Samarkand Forum on Human Rights

The 5th Samarkand Forum on Human Rights was held in Samarkand, Uzbekistan, on September 28–29, bringing together international experts and representatives from various countries. Turkmenistan’s State Migration Service also took part in the forum.

On September 28–29, 2026, the 5th Samarkand Forum on Human Rights was held in the city of Samarkand, Republic of Uzbekistan. Representatives of the State Migration Service of Turkmenistan also participated in the forum, which was held with the participation of international experts.

The main agenda of the forum included global factors contributing to human trafficking and international experience in combating this threat, as well as issues related to the use of information technology capabilities in identifying and establishing the identities of victims of human trafficking.

During the event, the efforts being carried out to identify people affected by human trafficking in a timely manner and provide them with the necessary assistance were discussed. Views were also exchanged on opportunities to develop cooperation among government agencies, civil society and international organizations in this area.

The delegation of Turkmenistan also delivered a speech at the forum, providing information on the humanitarian policy being pursued in the country under the leadership of the esteemed President. The speech highlighted the work being carried out in Turkmenistan’s migration sector, as well as the main areas of the country’s cooperation with reputable international organizations and their relevant structures.

The Turkmen side’s speech placed particular emphasis on the positive experience accumulated in the migration sector, the development of international cooperation, and the importance of measures aimed at protecting human rights and freedoms.

It was also noted that Turkmenistan’s status of permanent neutrality has been recognized three times by relevant resolutions of the United Nations General Assembly. In accordance with this principle, the protection of people and their rights is one of the important areas of the country’s state policy.

The forum provided an important opportunity to exchange experience on preventing human trafficking, protecting and assisting its victims, as well as further developing international cooperation in this area.
