Kenya Mini Demographic and Health Survey 2025–26 printg@who.int Tue, 03/11/2026 - 09:55 The 2025-26 Kenya Mini Demographic and Health Survey is the latest in the series of demographic and health surveys conducted in Kenya since 1989. It was designed to provide a timely interim update of key demographic, nutrition, and health indicators between full survey rounds. Data were collected from 5 November 2025 to 10 February 2026, using a nationally representative sample of 29 935 households drawn from the Kenya Household Master Sample Frame. Overall, the 2025-26 survey results show continued improvement in many of Kenya’s health indicators since the 2022 Kenya Demographic and Health Survey. Childhood survival and health continued to improve, with the under-5 mortality rate falling to 37 deaths per 1000 live births, from 41 in 2022 and 115 in 2003, while the infant and neonatal mortality rates stood at 30 and 19 deaths per 1000 live births, respectively. 8 in 10 children aged 12-23 months were fully vaccinated with all basic antigens. The 2025-26 survey was implemented by the Kenya National Bureau of Statistics in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and other stakeholders. Other agencies and organisations that facilitated the successful implementation of the survey through technical and/or financial support include the Gates Foundation, the World Health Organziation, the World Bank, the United Nations Children’s Fund and the United Nations Population Fund.
